Theme: Why I watch movies (as if I need a reason)...
When the next installment of a likeable movie comes out, I want to watch it. I'm aware that the sequel(s) might disappoint, but I still want to see. And once in a while I like the sequel as well as, if not better than, the original! For instance, I like Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 (2017) better than Vol.1 (2014); my favorite Indiana Jones movie is the third installment, Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade (1989); and Back to the Future Part III (1990) ranks right up there with the first.
Sometimes I fall behind on watching sequels (so many movies, so little time!). My husband and son recently sat me down to watch Thor: Ragnarok (2017), then a couple days later showed me the Complete MCU Recap; Everything You Need to Know Before Avengers: Infinity War (on YouTube), followed by (you guessed it) Avengers: Infinity War (2018)... because they want me to go with them when the next installment, Avengers: Endgame, releases soon (April 26).
By the way, the abundant humor in Thor: Ragnarok makes it my favorite Marvel movie (yep, more than any of the prior).
Which sequel do you favor more than the original?

ReplyDeleteSequels are notorious for not being no match for its predecessor but I've seen a few over the years that are as good if not better. I love the Jack Ryan feature flicks starring Harrison Ford and both 48 Hours films with Eddie Murphy & Nick Nolte. There are other movie series but my brain isn't coming up with them at the moment. I don't know of any recent productions say in the last ten years I can say the same about, though. We've watched some of the Marvel comics movies but haven't gotten hooked on those like so many. I think the Ironman movies might be our favorite.

@Cathy ... Oooo yes... Harrison Ford! And I enjoy Starks' sense of humor in Ironman. I haven't seen the 48 Hours films with Eddie Murphy, though.

ReplyDeleteDefinitely, watch both films. Murphy and Nolte work well together on screen. I love the 80s & 90s stuff Eddie did. Beverly Hills Cop is another good Eddie Murphy series.
