Binge Time

Blogging from A to Z Challenge

Theme: Why I watch movies (as if I need a reason)...

Binge Time

My husband and I enjoy an occasional movie binge time when we plop ourselves in front of the television and watch film after film after film.

I like to go to the library and check out a stack of DVDs for binging, and, of course, streaming movies on Netflix, Hulu, and Amazon Prime add endless possibilities!

Binge time is great for viewing unfamiliar flicks because if one is a boring dud (or two or three, for that matter), no worries because we can just abandon it and move on to (hopefully) a better one.

The day after Thanksgiving is our favorite day for movie binging, but there are other times throughout the year that seem to call out for such an occasion... a day to get swallowed up in movies.

Do you have a traditional binge time? What kinds of movies do you like to binge on?

  1. I love to binge watch series on Netflix. The reason I do the series is that I can get up and do something in between episodes and not feel so guilty for binging. I do binge watch movies once in awhile but it has to be on a rainy day, ya know? I go out to a movie once or twice a year, usually on my birthday weekend.

  2. I love to binge on horrible horror movies on Amazon Prime. The Bad Ben ones are great. There are so many that it can take up an entire Saturday. I like the ones that pretend like they are Ghost Hunters. Or the ones that are based on "true stories" but you know they aren't.

  3. @Susan ... For sure, a day for movie binging comes along infrequently, but series binging... well, I'm embarrassed to say how often that rolls around!

  4. @Morgan ... EEEEeeeekk... horror movies scare me! hahaha! If I watch a horror film, it has to be so unbelievable that it makes me laugh, otherwise it haunts me for weeks. Would I be able to handle the Bad Ben ones, maybe?

  5. Old television series, like Law and Order or CSI Miami are my binges! Or when we had Netflix, I loved The Killing. I started watching late into it, so I would watch one right after another.
I rarely watch tv at all. In fact, so seldom we don't even have cable or Netflix anymore!
If in the mood I might want to keep watching "one more" episode of the old The Simpsons or Hey, Arnold!

  6. @Lisa ... Television series are so easy to binge on since we can access entire seasons, huh! I love watching some of the old classics like the Dick Van Dyke Show.

  7. Don't binge watch much, but hubby & I manage to get in a lot of Netflix over time. We gravitate to new stuff. Then there's Amazon. May have to get CBS all access to binge the NEW Star Trek series. Yup we are Trekies. Sneaky Pete was a favorite!

  8. Don't binge watch much. Love cooking stuff & Extrodinary Homes. Hubby & I go for Netflix Originals one or 2 episodes an evening. Sneaky Pete was a favorite. Nice to see you back in the A to Z!

  9. @Linda Gardiner ... A new Star Trek series? I am behind the times, maybe binging too much, hahaha. I will have to check that out!

  10. I usually binge watch things on Netflix when my husband is away. The Crown and Grace and Frankie had me going for a while. Trouble is, my husband doesn't go away that often - LOL. Now that I am able to stream on my TV in the studio I may start binging again while I craft. Nice "B."

  11. I haven't gotten into binging, to be honest. I think watching that much would probably set me on overload.

  12. @Janet ... Oooo, crafting while you binge watch... good idea! I envy those who can do two things at once. I tried to crochet while watching TV and it didn't work because I had to keep doing one or the other over again... either rewinding to catch what I missed on the show or re-doing a section of the afghan because I messed up.

  13. @John ... I tend to overload when binge watching TV programs (too much of the same thing for an extended period of time), but I don't get as much overload when binging on movies (except a calorie overload...).

  14. I binge-watch TV shows a lot. Lately I'm watching the Mindy Project on Hulu, but I still have a lot of shows on DVD that I re-watch every year or two. I haven't seen a movie in so long, but right now a binge-watching movie day sounds heavenly!

  15. @Allison ... I'm pretty sure by the end of the April A to Z Blogging challenge, I will need a day for movie binging!
