Theme: Why I watch movies (as if I need a reason)...
Sometimes I watch a movie to cross it off a list. Not in a negative way, like X-ing out a chore, but in a positive way, like an accomplishment, or to keep track of what I've already watched on the list.
I've been a list-maker since childhood. Lists, charts, and tables. When it comes to movies, I have multiple lists. For example:
- Movies for my next Binge Time
- Films to research for future A to Z themes
- (Numerous lists within that list!)
- Wanna Watch
- Recommended by friends/family/readers
- Might be good
- (I saw the trailer or Academy Awards clips...)
Some I gathered from other sources:
- 10 Movies Screenwriters Should See by David Trottier
- (I've seen 7 out of the 10 so far.)
- 151 Best Movies You've Never Seen by Leonard Maltin
- (I don't plan to see all 151, but it still generated a long list of movies for me.)
- 33 Movies to Restore Your Faith in Humanity by Roger Ebert
- (I've checked off 12 of the 33.)
Many titles from the above lists go on one or more of these:
- Movies to borrow from the library
- Found on Hulu
- Found on Netflix
- Found on Amazon Prime
And for those I haven't found:
- Keep an eye open for these movies
So, yeah, sometimes I watch movies to X it off a list!
Are you a list-maker, too?
You certainly are a list maker, you are so organised! The only list I ever make is a shopping list and more often than not I leave it behind!

I probably should be a listmaker, but I'm not. I'm at the age where people start getting forgeetful, although forgetting things has always been a problem (or maybe an endearing quality, I'm not sure).
ReplyDelete@Keith ... Making a list is the fun part of organizing, for me. But when it comes to carry-through with tasks on a list, well, that's a downfall.
ReplyDelete@John ... Oh, I do hope forgetfulness can be an endearing quality. I am forgetful even with lists. I forget to look at some of my lists, and sometimes I stumble across a list I forgot I started!
ReplyDeleteDefinitely a list maker and especially during the A to Z I find so many books, movies, quotes, bloggers, etc., to add to my numerous lists! Great use of the letter x.
ReplyDeleteJanet’s Smiles
Some great lists. Now I have to check them out to see how many I've already seen and which ones are a must to see in the future.
ReplyDeleteSoon we will be x-ing off another AtoZChallenge!

I make lists, too :-) It's a great feeling of accomplishment once you've ticked off something -- especially if it's a movie you won't normally watch.

@Janet ... Thanks! The letter X seemed trickier this year, for me. I was happy when the idea finally came for this post.
ReplyDelete@Gail ... I hadn't thought about that... we'll soon be X-ing off another challenge. This has been my fifth.
ReplyDelete@Ronel ... Thanks for stopping by and leaving a comment. I'll be over to visit your blog soon!
ReplyDeleteTrudy,
ReplyDeleteI am a list maker but not a movie list keeper, other than if the film is streaming then I add it to my watch list. It's not a physical list but a list nonetheless. However, I used to keep such a list. All I can say is you must be a super organized purrson with all these lists. :)

@Cathy ... Making lists gives me an illusion of being organized and on top of things. I wish my productivity matched. LOL
ReplyDeleteOn occasion I might jot down a film that I want to remember to watch someday, but for the most part I don't make lists like I used to. I always have my Netflix queue and Amazon Wish Lists so I guess these are the lists I keep now. I guess I do keep lists.

@Arlee ... I happened to be updating my Amazon Wish List when I received notification of your comment! Perfect timing for you to mention it as one of your lists.
