I am mainly interested in screenwriting, but felt a rounded knowledge of film-making would be beneficial. I am learning to look deeper into the meanings of films and pay more attention to what the film-maker tries to show through colors, costume, mannerism, and the entire "mise en scene." Movies are visual and require a different style of writing. Also, through a degree in Film Studies I will learn how to produce and edit a film. That too will help the writing process, since camera placement and POV (point of view) are subtly written into the spec script.
