G'bye pile of broken wood.

Blogging from A to Z Challenge.
Theme: Making movie lines our own.

"Goodbye, pile of broken wood."

I recently traveled with my son on a coast-to-coast road trip. Favorite scenes and lines from A Goofy Movie (1995) surfaced along the way (or "on the open road" as they sing in the movie).

Goofy (voice of Bill Farmer), worries that his son Max (voice of Jason Marsden) is headed towards being a hoodlum. He thinks a two-week father/son road trip will provide a bonding experience, just as it did for him with his father, and put Max on the right path.

He loads their supplies into and on top of the car, forces his son inside, and as he backs out of the driveway cheerfully says, "G'bye house!... G'bye mailbox!"

Then backs over their picket fence, "G'bye pile of broken wood."

Well, ours was a one week mother/son road trip, and more than once we joked...

"G'bye hotel! G'bye parking lot! ... G'bye pile of broken wood."

  1. I did a coast to coast trip from west to east in the USA in 2008 and each time I left another town I would say goodbye. Your post reminds me of that.
    Nice post.

  3. LOL. I remember doing something similar on road trips. Never referenced a film, though. On the next trip, I will be using this line.

    1. It's fun when "goofy" lines get stuck in our heads and pop up later.

  4. I'm concerned, surprised, and even a tiny bit proud that I knew the movie in a heartbeat, just by reading the quote. You've given me a new game to play during the A to Z Challenge -- how many will I recognize?

    Love your theme!
